CATT Laboratory

The CATT Laboratory supports national, state, and local efforts to solve important transportation, safety, and security problems by developing and deploying innovative technology and user-centered software and data visualization systems.  The CATT Lab’s visual analytics and information visualization tools lead users to insights that would be difficult, if not impossible, to discover through traditional data analysis techniques.  These tools help agencies make sense of massive amounts of data, improve decision-making abilities, and ultimately improve the safety and efficiency of transportation systems.

The CATT Lab fuses information from Altitude with data from state and local departments of transportation, emergency operations centers, and thousands of sensors, cameras, and subsystems in their RITIS traffic analytics platform.  

The fused information from Altitude and government agencies informs DOTs on the location and causes of congestion and safety issues impacting freight transportation and logistics, and helps DOTs direct resources improve safety, truck parking, and mobility.  After improvements are made, DOTs then leverage RITIS Analytics to measure the impact of the improvements through dozens of performance metrics, reporting templates, and information visualization outputs.
