Resource Systems Group (RSG) is a Vermont-based analytics and research consulting firm that helps clients achieve their project goals by offering data-driven recommendations.
Since 1986, they have assisted clients with projects involving insights, research and analytics, enabling them to make informed strategic decisions. They were hired by Prologis, a logistics real estate investment company that owns and manages warehouses and other properties across the Americas, Europe and Asia.
Through working with RSG, Prologis sought to better understand, enhance and increase the resiliency of supply chain logistics in California, a key area where they operate. Network performance is essential for Prologis and the operations of their tenants. By relying on transportation insights to uncover and solve inefficiencies, they would be able to more effectively help their customers streamline goods movement.
In this case study we reveal:
- How Altitude by Geotab’s aggregated mobility data was used by RSG to provide Prologis with crucial insights into truck travel patterns in California’s Central Valley, challenging previous assumptions about heavy truck origins.
- The detailed process of integrating Altitude data into RSG’s Central Valley Gateway Travel Model to analyze and propose specific infrastructure improvements, including interchange placement and EV charging station locations.
- The significant results of the study, including heightened government awareness, accelerated infrastructure project timelines, enhanced supply chain efficiency, and the promotion of sustainable goods movement through strategic EV charging site selection.
